Artistic Statement

Lindsey Frances Jones works in painting, printmaking, illustration, collage, and mosaic for self-narrative and self-discovery. She creates in pursuit of her always-changing visual language, a process that is as important to her as the finished work. Craft-based processes, such as printmaking, anchor her work. Printmaking is a gateway, like a door in the brain, to access the shapes of what has to be said. In this way, she finds her printmaking works help her reveal the structures of her visual language of self. This process or flow inspires her to connect artmaking to others in social and community practice, to help others connect with their visual languages. Throughout all her work, she shows that contrasting lines with bold color, shape, and transparency portray emotion, movement, and dynamic symmetry that is playful but truthful to our collective experiences.
